The issue

Across the UK, 165,000 children are growing up without a stable place to call home. Temporary accommodation is meant to be temporary. For too many children, it has become everyday life.

The Impact

Too many children are living in unsuitable, overcrowded or poor-quality temporary accommodation, including B&Bs, hostels and hotels.

It is meant to be a short-term safety net. But for too many children, it is their long-term reality. Repeated moves. Unsuitable conditions. Uncertainty. Loss of the safety.

The impact can be serious and lasting: disrupted education, poorer health, strained family life, lost friendships and a lack stability that every chid deserves.
