165,000 Reasons welcomes Mike Reader MP as campaign Ambassador
Northampton South MP joins national coalition standing with children and families in temporary accommodation.
165,000 Reasons is proud to welcome Mike Reader MP, Member of Parliament for Northampton South, as a campaign Ambassador, strengthening its growing national coalition committed to ensuring no child’s home is temporary.
Before entering Parliament, Mike spent almost 20 years working in construction and infrastructure. He brings practical industry experience alongside a strong understanding of the role government, Parliament and the built environment must play in addressing the housing crisis.
His support will help ensure the experiences of children and families living in temporary accommodation are heard in Parliament and that the campaign’s calls for immediate action and long term reform remain on the political agenda.
This crisis crosses political, geographical and organisational boundaries. Addressing it will require determined leadership from national government, councils, housing providers, developers and charities.
Mike Reader MP, Member of Parliament for Northampton South, said:
“No child should grow up without a stable place to call home. Having spent my career before Parliament building the places people live and work, I know this crisis is solvable, but it needs sustained political leadership, not just sympathy. That’s why I’m proud to stand with 165,000 Reasons and push for the action these children and families deserve.”
Nick Kilby, Founder of Cratus Group and 165,000 Reasons, added:
“We are delighted to welcome Mike as an Ambassador for 165,000 Reasons. His experience in Parliament and across the construction and infrastructure sectors gives him a valuable understanding of both the scale of the housing challenge and the practical action needed to address it.
Political leadership will be essential if we are to improve conditions for families now and deliver the permanent homes the country needs. Mike’s support will help us ensure that the voices of children living in temporary accommodation are heard in Parliament and remain firmly on the national agenda.”
As a campaign Ambassador, Mike will help raise awareness in Parliament and beyond, support the campaign’s call for practical change and encourage other political and industry leaders to get involved.
We are grateful to Mike for standing with us.
